How does getting engaged and married affect my insurance?

Eric Allen of Farm Bureau Insurance is well-known in his profession. As engaged couples are planning their weddings – and lives thereafter – we asked Eric to give them some perspective on what they might want to consider.

There are many changes going on in your life right now, and you have (yay!) a wedding to plan. But you’re right: insurance is something that should be reviewed.

You really want to confirm that your coverages are adequate and that you are maximizing any potential savings. A few biggies:

  • What happens if you lose your ring?
  • Did you combine your auto policies to get discounts?
  • Would you be able to maintain your current lifestyle if your spouse were to pass away?
  • Are you relocating after your marriage? (Eric: tell us what that would have to do with re insurance.)

So: take an hour or two and find yourself a good insurance pro. (Did I mention that my number is (336) 999-4145?) I can guide you through this simple process, with ideas that’ll last the two of you a lifetime.
